People aren’t exactly loving Bali’s new airport

While Bali may have lofty goals of building up its airport into the world’s best, what may look great on the outside doesn’t exactly mean everything’s all good inside. 

Tommy Soetomo, the CEO of PT Angkasa Pura I, Bali’s airport authority, claimed that Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport is the world’s most beautiful airport, reported Berita Bali. 

Reacting to Soetomo’s bold boasts about the airport, readers of the website Bali Discovery ripped the island’s updated airport to shreds. 

The general sentiment was that even though the airport now looks beautiful, it’s just as slow and inefficient as ever:

“It might be the most beautiful in the world but when it takes up to 2 hours to get through immigration then its beauty soon disappears. Old airport might not have been so beautiful but immigration was much quicker. Please get your act together.”

“The best airport in the world? He must have been eating magic mushrooms at the time of the interview. Massive line ups upon arrival, not enough immigration counters open but plenty of touts (off duty immigration officers) offering fast exit for $25 – all this corruption money is shared amongst airport authority people and some goes to the top people who are the ones who could put a stop to this corruption. The best airport in the world? I think not.” 

“He has to be kidding. Its only welcoming factor is getting out of the place.”
