Drug Bust: Rp 12 billion value

Denpasar police made a pretty hefty drug bust last Friday, reigning in an estimated worth of Rp 12 billion. Four suspects were arrested for distributing and producing methamphetamine and ecstasy. 

The suspects could face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp 5 billion. They are being held by the Denpasar Police for more investigation. 

“We’ve been investigating for two weeks. We had difficulty finding the location of the producer because they do not stay in one place,” said Denpasar Police Chief Comr Djoko Hariutomo, as quoted by the Bali Times. 

Drug production sites were at Jl. Tukad Batanghari, Panjer, Denpasar and Seririt, Buleleng. 

There, police uncovered various methamphetamine-making material including 15 bottles and five jerry cans of liquid with methamphetamine chemicals, one 288 gram bottle filled with powder, two 374 gram bottles of clear crystals, among other materials. 

The drug-making apparatus was accessed through express mail orders from stores in East Java and Jakarta.
