Bali is “losing its charm, too much congestion, too much traffic” says a concerned gentleman in a video posted to YouTube, entitled “Bali Hotel Market Reaches Tipping Point by C9 Hotelworks.”

The video exhibits shocking statistics, like how the resort island receives 10 million visitors annually, dwarfing the local population by three times. The alarmist feature video was posted by C9 Hotelworks, a hospitality, tourism and property consulting firm.

In the video’s comment section, Mark Stahly argues that the only part of Bali that’s reached any tipping point per se is South Bali and to leave those who really like Bali the north of the island.

Bali may be crazy crowded at times, especially in the south, but that’s not breaking news. Yeah the south of the island is becoming overrun by hotels, but we need to see what’s going to happen up north and how development spreads throughout the island before declaring the tipping point has been reached for the island.

The claim of hitting a “tipping point,” that argument may be a bit premature with the new construction going on at the airport, the island’s tourism market doesn’t seem like it’s going to give quite yet. Even though things are crazy down in South Bali, a real tipping point would mean the island couldn’t accommodate any more. The opposite seems to be true at the moment–they just keep on coming!
