Aussie dude plans giant ‘Spiderman’ chest tattoo after spider was living under his skin

A Bali spider was tweezed out of an Australian tourist’s abdomen after it had burrowed its way through his chest for three days. Happy Birthday to him! It happened while he was vacationing in Bali to celebrate his 21st birthday. 

Bragging about his new “spidey powers,” Dylan Thomas (no, not the famous poet) reportedly wants to “commemorate” his eight-legged friend’s journey with a giant Spiderman chest tattoo, says his homestown’s publication, the Bunbury Mail. Now that’s an unconventional souvenir. Dylan hopes his friends will help cover the costs for the ink. He also hopes to end up with a “gnarly scar.” Dylan, based on those chest pics of your red irritated “happy trail,” your scar is going to be quite “gnarly.”

Ironically, it was Thomas’ mom who originally circulated the graphic photos of Thomas’ spider trail on Facebook, helping make her son’s chest pics become viral overnight in Western Australia. 

Apparently the spider entered Thomas’ body through an old appendix scar. Once it had crawled under his skin, the spider trekked up to Thomas’ sternum. 

“It wasn’t really a tickling sensation, obviously once the venom started to affect my skin it was a really burning sensation like a searing feeling,” said Thomas, as quoted by the Bunbury Mail. 

When Thomas first went to the hospital on Sunday, the doctor sent him home with antihistamines to treat an insect bite for the mark that had been on Dylan’s body since Friday night. The antihistamines obviously didn’t do anything to kill the spider, so it kept crawling under his skin. Guys, he reportedly went to BIMC—that’s rumored to be one of Bali’s best hospitals. Though who can really blame them for not catching the spider right away? It’s not every day you hear of tropical arachnids living in people’s bodies. 

Eventually, Thomas went back to the hospital on Monday and the spider, the size of a matchstick head was removed from Dylan’s scar. No, he didn’t keep it as a pet—it was already dead when pulled out.
