Indonesia’s ‘King of Size’: celebrity bodybuilder plans to muscle his way into filmmaking
Ade Rai is an Indonesian household name. The muscle man is so ubiquitous across the archipelago that his portrait can been decorating the walls of fitness centers and warungs alike across the country. Just look for the framed shrines of the one really big macho muscly Indonesian man. Yup, thatās Ade Rai.
Raiās latest stir is taking him from the gym to the cinema, because he is apparently inspired by the short American documentary about a champion bodybuilder āThe King of Sizeā that just showed last night at the Bali International Film Festival (BALINALE) 2014 at Beachwalk in Kuta.
Surprisingly, Rai wouldnāt want to just glorify fellow bodybuilding athletes in his documentary, but instead plans on telling the sad story of how too many muscle man hopefuls succumb to the high stress by taking steroids and other drugs. Rai told Tribun Bali that too many Indonesian kids with bodybuilding ambitions ultimately end up hurting their bodies with such substance abuse.

Rai says heāll be moving forward with his project. Great, we’re anxiously waiting because we just can’t wrap our heads around seeing Indonesian bodies that big.
