Celeb Balinese guitarist ‘sensed’ mother’s death from across the country

Dewa Budjana, the famed guitarist from the legendary Indonesian band Gigi (yes, Teeth) says he felt hot before his mother’s death. He was confused for no apparent reason before his 78-year-old mother passed away yesterday and even his friends said he had shaky hands. He thinks it may have just been a sign.

The guitarist was in transit from Jakarta when he was informed of her death. Gigi played at Monas for Jokowi’s inauguration party earlier this week. 

Budjana’s mother passed away last night at a hospital in Denpasar due to prolonged illness. She had been hospitalized on October 1, but was already sent back home before her death. Budjana says she was not in a weakened condition when he left for Jakarta. 

The cremation procession for her death is scheduled on Saturday at the family’s Klungkung home. Budjana is the sixth out of nine siblings.
