MERS may have made its way to Bali
A Bali resident is suspected of contracting the infamous Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (MERS). She was just quarantined in Sanglah Hospital Denpasar on Thursday, according to Antara News.
She allegedly checked in to the hospital at 11 am and is currently getting treatment, said Dr. Kadek Nariyantha, PR head.
The 70-year-old patient just arrived in Bali on October 19 from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia that started on September 9, earlier this year. Apparently the woman had a cough without phlegm even four weeks before receiving treatment and shortness of breath for the past week.
Once doctors took her travel history and realized she had recently been to the Middle East for haj and was presenting characteristics of the virus, she was immediately isolated. Nariyantha says lab tests need to be confirmed before we can be sure that it’s MERS. Hope itās not.
