Tourist’s rafting accident death prompts local gov to ask for operating company’s license review
Bali Adventure, the tour company that operated the rafting trip resulting in an Indian tourist’s death is now under fire for its safety procedures.
Katir Sheh, 29, didn’t come out alive of the Ubud area’s Ayung River after he fell from a raft on Monday. After he fell, he allegedly grabbed onto a rock, but once guides flipped the raft over, Sheh couldn’t be found, said the rafting guides to the police.
Local government official Wayan Tagel Arjana is urging the appropriate agencies and regency government of Gianyar, where the accident happened, to review the licensing of Bali Adventure for rafting-related accidents.
This comes after Sheh’s wife, Khyti Shah told Tribun Bali that the guides didn’t try hard enough to save her husband.
Arjana told Tribun Bali that a review of the operating permit would reveal more about the company’s operating system in the event of a disaster or accident.
He fears the fatal accident will impact the image of tourism in Bali.
