‘Headshot’ dapat review ajib setelah debut di Toronto International Film Festival

“Dear America – please outsource all action films to Indonesia from here-on-out.”

Itu adalah kalimat awal dari review film ‘Headshot’ dari website We Got This Covered (dan juga kalimat awal artikel ini – meta banget, gan!). Bagi yang belum tau, ‘Headshot’, film yang disutradarai Mo Brothers dan dibintangi oleh jagoan pencak silat Indonesia Iko Uwais, baru aja debut di Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2016.

Dan kayaknya film action dari Indonesia mau booming lagi guys, kayak ‘The Raid’ dan sekuelnya pada masanya. Itu berdasarkan review dari film critic yang udah beruntung bisa nonton ‘Headshot’ loh, termasuk Matt Donato dari We Got This Covered. Ia melanjutkan reviewnya gini:

“Iko Uwais makes Jason Bourne look like a punk bitch in this brilliantly bone-crunching symphony of destruction, proving both the Mo Brothers and Mr. Uwais to be as boldly badass as we hoped their latest genre assault would permit.”

Simfoni. Kehancuran. Bayangin. Jason Bourne aja kalah katanya, and we loved Jason Bourne.

Tapi, as expected, ‘Headshot’ pastinya fokus ke action daripada plot. Untuk itu, ada juga critic seperti Angie Han dari Slashfilm yang agak mengeluh soal romantic subplot antara Ishmael (Iko Uwais) dan Ailin (Chelsea Islan) dalam film ini, tapi itu gak gitu masalah karena film ini first and foremost adalah film ciat ciat:

“But none of that matters all that much, because what Headshot really is is a long string of excuses to watch Uwais punch himself out of sticky situations. As with The Raid, the story is just a vehicle for stunning action setpieces, building up to an inevitable boss fight at the end. And Headshot delivers, with flying colors (and fists and feet and bullets). Uwais reminds us yet again why he’s one of the most exciting action heroes we have working today.”

Sayangnya sampai sekarang kami hanya bisa bayangin doang karena belum ketauan tanggal rilis ‘Headshot’ di Indonesia. Kira-kira kapan ya?
