Getting charged with corruption is so stressful, suspect faints before she could be arrested

A corruption suspect couldn’t take the heat and allegedly fainted from the shock that she would be taken away. We would faint too if were being taken anywhere for crime in Bali, especially if it were Kerobokan (though not in her case). 

The woman, Ni Kadek Arik Komalasari, is an ex-treasurer for the Indonesian election organization Komisi Pemilihan Umum (KPU). Always a joy to hear about the many cases of election-related corruption. Her case file was being transferred to the Bali Corruption Court yesterday in Jembrana at about 2 pm when she passed out. It was in the midst of the administrative process, when the prosecutor was also conducting administrative proceedings against her arrest. 

Following her tumble, judicial authorities immediately brought Komalasari to the court clinic, but she was later transported to the state hospital via ambulance. Chief state prosecutor Teguh Subroto said the court is still waiting for the doctor’s examination of the suspect and they will wait on that before taking further legal action against Komalasari. Apparently they don’t want to get the blame if Komalasari becomes more ill, based on what Subroto said to Tribun Bali.
